Do you mind? I’m trying to sleep here.

Taronga 6 lemur

For many today is the first day of the Easter school holidays. Energy levels have been falling and it is time to recharge. In our house it is officially a day to sleep in. We’ll start the holiday activities tomorrow.

Found in southern Madagascar in the dry forest and bush, the ring-tailed lemur is a large, vocal primate with brownish-gray fur and a distinctive tail with alternating black and white rings.

The Ring-tailed Lemur’s habitats are already restricted in southern Madagascar and continue to diminish due to annual burning practices that help create new pasture for livestock. Over-grazing and the felling of trees for charcoal production further impact their populations. They are also hunted for food in certain areas and frequently kept as a pet.
